Got A Defamation Dispute? End It Now!

Defamation is extremely expensive, the claimant claimed damages for £100,000 for the defendant’s, slander to an audience of persons who knew both, it was alleged he spoke words which put the claimants character into disrepute, equally application for an injunction prohibiting the defendant, whether by himself, his servants or agents or otherwise from further publishing the said words or any similar words defamatory of the claimant was sought.

Mediation was arranged, there were several underlying issues running alongside this slander, which made the mediation more difficult than if it was just the slander which was fuelling this dispute.

Although this involved just 2 parties, each party had its own camp so to speak, who themselves had their own respective interests, some of whom were also present at the mediation.

Late into the evening an agreement was reached for damages to be paid, as well as an oral and written apology to be published.

  • The mediation took 1 day compared to the 12 months this defamation dispute had already gone on.
  • The mediation cost each party only a fraction each compared to the thousands they had already spent on legal fees and the thousands they would have had to spend had they continued with Court action.
