Qualified as a Solicitor 1991, having obtained Is Class Honours Law Degree from Liverpool University. Articled to Forsyte Kerman Solicitors, London, 1989-91.From 1994 onwards, a sole practitioner niche firm specialising in civil litigation.

From 1997 onwards, specialising in Mediation, accredited with ADR Group, a member of the Law Society’s Civil and Commercial Mediation Panel. Mediation panel member of Effective Dispute Solutions Limited. A founder member of Commercial Mediation West Wales and a regular lecturer and author on mediation.

Over the past 15 years, I have mediated every type of civil and commercial dispute, from boundaries to partnerships, wills to construction, insurance to family, agricultural to intellectual property. I mediate across Wales, the Midlands and the South West. I have mediated in stately homes, farm yards, working men’s clubs and office suites. I find that the bulk of work arises from referrals from solicitors/parties who have used me as a mediator before.

I have extensive experience of multi-party mediations, involving parties, solicitors, barristers, surveyors and other experts. My solicitor background can often help short-circuit extensive legal exposition, allowing the issues to be dealt with more quickly. Feedback over the years indicates that my patient, business like but allowing for humour and human nature approach has helped steer many nightmare ‘trial next week’ cases towards a settlement.

Angus Reid is a Chartered Engineer with a successful career spanning some 30 years in engineering design, site supervision and multi-discipline project management in various industries. He is a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (formerly the IEE), a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is an Accredited Mediator.

Angus graduated from Dundee University with a degree in electrical engineering and following technical and commercial training he spent several years as contractors’ site resident engineer and manager working on major power station construction projects. He subsequently widened his construction experience undertaking electrical design, supervising commissioning and managing capital projects for a contractor in the nuclear, rail and steel industries before taking on a new project management role in the brewing industry. In this role, Angus gained wide experience from the “Employer’s perspective” of capital project development and delivery covering conceptual design and specification, procurement, process engineering, general building works, industrial services and FMCG high speed and bulk packaging.

With practical experience of having worked both as a contractor and as the employer / employer’s Engineer on a diverse range of construction projects, Angus expanded his career into consultancy where he was responsible for engineering design, client management and project delivery of renewable energy projects, mainly involving planning and construction of wind farms and schemes to generate electricity from landfill gas. This was later extended to cover environmental and planning aspects of engineering developments as well as supervision of technical and commercial delivery of renewable energy projects.

Involvement in the resolution of technical and commercial differences throughout his career established an interest in all forms of dispute resolution and this interest led to Angus achieving an MSc (with merit) in Construction Law and Arbitration and undertaking further training to become an Accredited Mediator.

Angus now operates as an independent consultant based in the North of England providing technical and contractual / commercial support to clients in the renewable energy / construction industries throughout the UK as well as providing dispute resolution advice, training and services as an Arbitrator or Mediator.

With experience in a diverse range of industries and an understanding of electrical and general engineering design, building works and related construction and operational interfaces, Angus’ technical knowledge and contractual / commercial awareness offer a keen insight into causes of construction, business and related personal disputes. This insight, combined with experience of negotiating with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders over many years, has given Angus the skills and ability to deal with a broad range of technical, commercial and personal issues and to help widely disparate parties to resolve their disputes.
